blogging in november ~ day 13

13.Post a photo that you love.

...just because, ok? :)

blogging in november ~ day 12

12.Okay. Let's be real. We all have lives outside of fandom. What else are you obsessed with, or particularly good at, that most LJ'ers don't know about?

You know what? I'm not really sure how to answer this other than to say ask anybody at my job what I'd rather be doing on a Saturday (not that I actually want to be at work on a Saturday...)

Other than that, well, I did go to university to study history (with a bit of English literature on the side). I can't say for sure where this interest entirely comes from, other than a gift for remembering random facts? Saying that, the original plan was to do biology instead but I guess remembering random stuff doesn't extend to that 'cause I didn't do so well at my a-levels...

blogging in november ~ day 11

11.What movie are you most looking forward to this holiday season? (Link to a trailer so we can experience the impending awesomeness too!)

Had this come earlier I probably would've said Thor: The Dark World, which, btw, was awesome.

Now? It's totally Catching Fire.

blogging in november ~ day 10

10.What's your favorite new Fall 2013 TV show?

Hmm, ok. New show? I'm not entirely sure to be honest. The new stuff I'm watching consists of Sleepy Hollow, Dracula, Agents of Shield and Atlantis. Being new I kinda feel they're all still growing into what they could be right now, and while I'm still with them (between 2-7 episodes in between them I think) I don't think any in particular is my favourite right now. Shield edges it out mainly for its MCU connections and the fact that its trading on me loving that Coulson is alive. :)

New returning stuff is Arrow, Elementary and Revolution. Of these, Arrow is probably my favourite. Er, because I like the actiony bits? And it gives me the opportunity to geek out whenever they drop (subtle) comic reference. :)

Oh, and I'm still waiting for the return of Hawaii Five-0 here.

9.Who is your favorite villain?

Loki. Oh, definitely Loki. Tom Hiddleston variety, although I did enjoy the comicverse kid!Loki while he lasted.

(Damn, I seem to not actually have an icon of him. This, I must fix.)

Blogging in November ~ Day 8

So, mhalachaiswords has a list of prompts to post for every day of November which I've only just noticed and can't help but think is a brilliant idea, especially since it'll get me using this thing again.

So, Day 8 ~ Post a song that makes you want to write.

This is a little hard to narrow down, since I think there's a few that make me want to write whether I do or not.

First, at least, is probably Snow Patrol's The Lightning Strike (What If This Storm Ends?), if nothing else because I think it feels pretty epic and as much as I want to I don't think I can come up with anything to fit it. At least not now.

One of the others for the moment is Imagine Dragon's Radioactive which I came to know through an advert for The Avengers and has made me associate it with that since, even if, again, I can't actually think of a way to put what I want to paper (so to speak).

Blogging in November ~ Day 7

Since I'm still here, I'm going to backdate this daily post thing. The rest can get finished off later or something ;)

So, Day 7 ~ Share your favourite stories from your current fandom love(s)/ship(s). Tell us why they're amazeballs if you're so inclined.

Ok. Right now, I'm totally loving Things That Were by Lindzzz, a Rise of the Guardians fic. It doesn't get updated particularly often, but the chapters are pretty wordy and you do get pretty pictures with it. They do go to a bit of trouble to reconcile movieverse and bookverse Pitch Black, taking their cues past wise from the books and inserting it into the potential post film stories. When I heard about Kozmotis Pitchiner from the books I have to admit I was pretty sold on the character and his potential for being redeemed (not too dissimilar from Marvel Movieverse Loki?), and while I'll admit I'm not sure where this story is going exactly, I'm enjoying it a lot all the same.

The other right now, isn't exactly one but the second in a series. Strange, Far Places, a Pacific Rim fic and the second in the author's From out of the Ocean series, dealing with the aftermath of the film, Newt's Kaiju research and the potential of another future invasion. I like this not only as a post film fic, but because the characters and their relationships are pretty well written and it seems very believable within the film's universe.

Blogging in November ~ Day 6

So, continuing the (confusing?) backtrack, 6.What's your current fandom love(s) and/or ship(s)?

Top of the list is probably Pacific Rim, a strange one really since all the early stuff I saw to do with it didn't particularly make me want to see it at all. Then I read a Star Trek fusion, loved that, started reading pure Pacific Rim fandom, and finally saw it. I mean, what's not to love about giant monsters fighting giant mecha? (Also Idris Elba.)

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is always a good one for me too, mostly Iron Man (who doesn't love Tony Stark?) and Loki Thor.

And always, always Star Trek in any and all its forms (yes, even Enterprise), because I've been a lifelong fan pretty much since The Next Generation started literally a few months after I was born and my Dad sat me down to watch it with him. ;) I'm aware the reboot films aren't to some fans tastes, but personally I love them - if they bring the universe back into the public attention, maybe sometime in the future we might get a tv series again? There's a sad lack of proper spaceship sci-fi on tv right now.

blogging in november ~ day 5

5.What show from your childhood would you love to bring back?

Honestly? I think most of my childhood passed in a haze of Power Rangers (the original, ofc) and whatever was on the Disney Channel (mostly film spin offs - Hercules, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid etc). My favourite was probably Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, of which the only thing it had in common with its source material was the title character. I don't remember too much about it, but they seemed to go to some effort with world building and even got the little green aliens from Pizza Planet in there as well.

And maybe Jackie Chan Adventures. Because that cartoon was awesome.

4.Share your favorite stories (with links!) from your first fandom love(s)/ship(s). Tell us why you still love them.

You know what? I'm honestly not sure if I have anything that old saved anymore (not that I'm saying I'm old lol). Pirates of the Caribbean, the first film before all the sequels, was what drew me into its fandom and, by extension, fandom for everything else I've loved ever since. My tastes have moved on since then as well (it is ten years ago now!), so I can't really say what I liked then I'd even like anymore if I could find it again.
